It solved the issue with my former expression pedal that it only controlled the volume coming out of the M50's keybed and not the midi connected controller. It doesn't use any of your pedal plugs and it controls the whole volume coming from the M50 and another instrument if you like. I came all the way around and got a Behringer line volume pedal. Never done it, so don't know for sure, but I do know you can assign the pedal to turn on and off the switches, as well as a dozen other things that are available in the pedal switch global setting. That's why I said IF you can set one of the switches to do that. Seriously, buy an expression pedal and use that. This would be kludgy and would take forever, let alone not working. Also, messing with switches would have to be done on a program-by-program and combi-by-combi basis. You could mute everything, but you can't make the switch work as a 50% volume decrease. ![]() Even then, the switches are toggle, as you say, and have values of 0 (off) and 127 (on). How would you set one of the switches to do this? Switches don't automatically send arbitrary MIDI messages (the closest you could come is setting a switch to send whatever the knob was doing, and the knob to send a MIDI CC or adjust volume). This second solution is much more complicated and will run you over $100 for the Event Processor, plus two MIDI cables, and it gets more complicated still if you want to add a second keyboard to your setup. The reason you do the filter is to avoid having a loop where everything you play on the M50 goes back to the M50 via the Event Processor. To connect it, plug the M50's OUT to the Event Processor's IN, and the Event Processor's OUT to the M50's IN. Also, have the Event Processor filter out all data on whatever the global channel is for your M50 - this'll be step 1, with the two pedal mappings as step 2 and 3. ![]() Program it to convert CC #82, value 127 to CC #7, value 64, and in another slot, to convert CC #82, value 0 to CC #7, value 127 (MIDI values range between 0 and 127, so 64 is 50% and 127 is 100%, unless you actually wanted values 50 and 100). Th easiest way I can think of to do this, if you don't use any other keyboards with your M50, would be to plug the sustain pedal into the switch jack, set it to send Footswitch (CC #82) when you press and release it, and get the MIDI Solutions Event Processor. You'd have to run the pedal through some kind of MIDI processor first. I'd suggest you just buy an expression pedal and use that to control the volume on the M50. If you can set one of the switches SW1 or SW2 to give it a 50% volume decrease, then you can assign the pedal switch in global mode to trigger one of those switches. Any idea? For example I want to lower down the volume from 100 to 50 when the pedal is pressed down and back to 100 when released. Posted: Wed 4:36 pm Post subject: Sustain pedal as volume controller?
